Once home to a thriving red-light district and illegal gambling dens dating back to the 1970s, Kalijodo faces certain closure. Its residents will be evicted and its buildings razed to the ground. Despite protests from residents and local businesses, Jakarta Governor Basuki `Ahok` Tjahaja Purnama is determined to turn Kalijodo back to its oiriginal green zone. What will happen to its residents, including powerful business chieftains who controlled the lucrative prostitution, gambling and protection racket and protected by certain elements of the security forces? It`s the end of an era.
